Direction to Use
Prepare the Workspace:
- Ensure you have a clean, well-lit workspace.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Gather Supplies:
- Insulin vial with the prescribed insulin type (U-40 concentration).
- Hmd Dispo Van Insulin Syringe 1ml (U-40).
- Sterile swab or wipe.
- Sharps container for safe disposal.
Inspect Syringe:
- Check the syringe for any visible defects or damage.
- Ensure the tamper-evident, heat-stacked sealing of end-caps with the barrel is intact.
Preparation of Insulin:
- Gently roll the insulin vial between your palms to mix it. Do not shake.
- Wipe the rubber stopper of the insulin vial with a sterile swab or wipe.
Drawing Insulin:
- Remove the needle cover from the syringe.
- Pull back the plunger to draw in air equivalent to your prescribed insulin dose.
- Insert the needle into the rubber stopper of the insulin vial.
- Inject the air into the vial, making it easier to withdraw the insulin.
- Invert the vial and slowly pull back the plunger to draw your prescribed insulin dose into the syringe.
Remove Air Bubbles:
- Tap the syringe gently to bring air bubbles to the top.
- Push the plunger up slightly to expel any air bubbles.
- Ensure that your syringe contains only the correct insulin dose.
Administering Insulin:
- Choose an injection site (commonly subcutaneous fatty tissue in the abdomen or thigh).
- Pinch a fold of skin at the injection site.
- Inject the insulin slowly and steadily.
- Wait a few seconds before withdrawing the needle to ensure all the insulin is delivered.
Needle Disposal:
- Safely dispose of the used needle in a sharps container.
- Do not recap the needle.
Post-Injection:
- Apply gentle pressure to the injection site with a clean cotton ball or tissue.
- Dispose of all used materials properly.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain a record of your insulin doses, injection sites, and any unusual reactions or issues.
