Direction to Use
- Examine the patient’s mouth and determine the specific tooth or teeth to be extracted. Consider the tooth type, location, and condition before selecting the appropriate forceps from the set.
- Administer local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort during the extraction procedure. Follow proper anesthesia techniques and dosage based on the patient’s age and medical history.
- Select the appropriate forceps from the GDC Extraction Forceps Pedo Set based on the tooth to be extracted. The set includes a variety of forceps with different sizes and designs to accommodate different tooth types and locations.
- Hold the selected forceps in your dominant hand, ensuring a firm and comfortable grip. Familiarize yourself with the forceps’ handles and beaks to ensure proper orientation and control during the extraction.
- Position the forceps around the tooth to be extracted, with the beaks of the forceps gripping the crown of the tooth firmly. Ensure that the beaks are properly seated and aligned with the tooth structure.
- Apply controlled pressure and a twisting motion to loosen the tooth from its socket. Use gentle and gradual force to avoid excessive trauma to the surrounding tissues. Adjust the force and angle as needed to facilitate a successful extraction.
- Once the tooth is sufficiently loosened, carefully lift and remove it from the socket using the forceps. Use slow and steady motions to minimize any potential damage or discomfort.
- After the extraction, inspect the extracted tooth to ensure complete removal and to check for any root fragments or complications. Clean the extraction site and provide necessary post-extraction instructions to the patient or caregiver.
- Clean and sterilize the used forceps according to standard dental instrument sterilization protocols. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for proper cleaning and maintenance of the forceps.
