The Smith & Nephew Allevyn Gentle Border Foam Dressing have been designed for people with very sensitive and fragile skin. The dressing is triple layered
The top film is made from polyurethane and the breathability enhances with exudates. The film also serves as a barrier to exogenous (external) bacteria
The hydrocellular foam core is highly absorbent and a has absorption capacity for up to 7 days
The perforated wound contact layer is coated with soft silicone gel adhesive. The gel adhesive flows into the crevices of the skin on application and on removal it flows out thus minimizing trauma to the wound
The combination of the triple layer ensures that there is sufficient moisture in the wound healing environment
The bandage conforms to the contours of the body making it comfortable for the patient and is shower proof allowing patients to bathe with the dressing in place
Indicated applications include:
Shallow and granulating wounds
Chronic and acute wounds with high exudate
Ulcers, leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers
Infected, fungating and malignant wounds
Surgical wounds, oncological wounds and donor sites
1st and 2nd degree burns
Epidermolysis bullosa wounds (a rare genetic connective tissue disorder)
