Direction to Use
Preparation:
- Ensure you are in a clean and sterile environment.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and put on appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves.
Inspect the Syringe:
- Check the syringe’s packaging for any signs of damage or tampering. Do not use it if the packaging is compromised.
- Confirm that the syringe is within its expiration date.
Prepare Medication:
- Draw up the required medication into the syringe using appropriate aseptic techniques.
- Ensure that the medication dosage matches the prescribed amount.
Attach Needle:
- Remove the protective cap from the needle hub.
- Attach the needle securely to the syringe’s Luer Lock or Luer Slip tip, depending on the syringe type.
Eliminate Air Bubbles:
- Hold the syringe with the needle pointing upward.
- Gently tap the syringe to dislodge any air bubbles.
- Slowly depress the plunger to expel any remaining air, making sure the medication fills the needle.
Administer Medication:
- Choose the appropriate injection site on the patient’s body.
- Cleanse the site with an antiseptic solution.
- Insert the needle smoothly into the tissue or vein at the correct angle and depth.
- Administer the medication at a controlled rate, following healthcare protocols.
Withdraw Needle:
- After administering the medication, withdraw the needle gently and steadily.
- Apply pressure to the injection site with a sterile cotton ball or gauze if necessary.
Dispose Safely:
- Safely dispose of the used syringe and needle in a designated sharps container according to local regulations.
