The Smith & Nephew Allevyn Ag Gentle Border Foam Dressings have the standard efficacy of the Allevyn range of dressings combined with the antimicrobial activity of Silver. This is a triple layered dressing
The top film is made from polyurethane and the breathability enhances with exudates. The film also serves as a barrier to exogenous (external) bacteria
The hydrocellular foam core is highly absorbent and a has absorption capacity for up to 7 days
The perforated wound contact layer is coated with soft silicone gel adhesive. The gel adhesive flows into the crevices of the skin on application and on removal it flows out thus minimizing trauma to the wound
The combination of the triple layer ensures that there is sufficient moisture in the wound healing environment
The hydro cellular foam core is infused with silver sulfadiazine which provides a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action and is effective against bacteria such as pseudomonas, MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycinesistant enterococci)
Indicated applications include:
Shallow and granulating wounds
Chronic and acute wounds with high exudate
Ulcers, leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers
Infected, fungating and malignant wounds
Donor sites
1st and 2nd degree burns
Surgically dehisced wounds (caused by breaking open of the surgical incision along the line of the suture used)
