The U Ortho 2nd Molar Space Maintainer is a dental appliance crafted to retain the space left by a missing upper/lower second molar. Each box contains 10 sets of this custom-made device, typically composed of stainless steel wires and bands. Utilizing dental cement or bonding agents, it securely attaches to adjacent teeth. Its primary function is to prevent neighboring teeth from migrating into the void, maintaining proper spacing and alignment to prevent future orthodontic issues. Banding : Band with tube is selected by trial fitting. A band pusher and band adapter is use to fit and adapt the band around the tooth.

Select & Adjust Space Component : A wire component is selected to act as the spacer.

Insert Space Component & Check Fit: Slide the wire in the tube of the band. Place the band on the tooth and check if the space maintainer is fitting properly with space component resting on the supporting tooth.

Crimping band tube and space component: Keep e-crimper at the centre of the tube and do partial crimping intraorally. Remove the space maintainer and do final crimping extraorally.

Cementation: Clean and dry the band. Isolate and dry the tooth. Mix luting cement and apply on the inner surface of the band. Seat the band on the tooth using band pusher or band adapter. Remove excess cement after cement sets.
