Description

Voco Ionofil Molar is a dental solution designed to meet the demanding requirements of restorative dentistry. This product is a radiopaque glass ionomer cement known for its exceptional adhesion to both enamel and dentine, ensuring minimal marginal gaps and maximum retention for dental fillings. Furthermore, it offers a continuous and high release of fluoride ions, contributing to long-term dental health.

Ionofil Molar is versatile in its applications, serving various dental needs. It is ideal for restoring V-shaped defects, cervical enamel or root erosions, including class V cavities. Additionally, it excels in restoring deciduous teeth, especially class I, and is suitable for class II cavities not bearing occlusal pressure, making it a reliable choice for tunnel preparations, core build-ups, and linings.

This product emphasizes precision and user-friendliness. Its efficient mixing process ensures a firm, packable consistency in just under a minute. After application, Ionofil Molar sets in approximately 2-3 minutes, allowing for efficient and accurate placement. Its susceptibility to humidity during the setting time is mitigated with the recommendation of using a rubber dam or protective varnish.

  • Restoration of deciduous teeth (especially class I)
  • Fillings of class II cavities (not occlusion-bearing) by means of tunnel preparation

Direction to Use

Preparation:

  • Ensure that the cavity to be filled is clean. You can use a solution like 3% hydrogen peroxide for cleaning. Thoroughly rinse with water and dry the cavity using warm air. Be cautious not to overdry the dentine.
  • If the remaining dentine thickness is more than 1.5 mm, no additional lining is necessary. However, if it’s less, you should cover areas close to the pulp with calcium hydroxide to prevent irritation.
  • The ideal layer thickness for fillings should not be less than 1 mm. Avoid creating feather-shaped margins. If in doubt, opt for conventional preparation.

Mixing Powder/Liquid:

  • Shake the powder container well before use.
  • Mix one level measuring scoop of powder with one drop of liquid. This results in a mixing ratio of 4.0 parts powder to 1 part liquid by weight.
  • Hold the liquid dispenser vertically and place a single drop of liquid onto a dry glass or plastic plate. Ensure that there are no enclosed air bubbles.
  • Mix the powder into the liquid in two equal portions using a clean metal or plastic spatula. Only mix in the second portion when the first is homogeneous.
  • The mixed cement should have a firm, packable consistency. Avoid any contact with humidity, and never add new liquid during mixing.

Application:

  • After mixing, promptly apply Voco Ionofil Molar into the prepared cavity. The cement will set within approximately 2-3 minutes.
  • During the filling process, keep the working area dry. The use of a rubber dam is recommended.
  • Linings or build-up fillings can be carefully finished after setting, approximately 4-6 minutes after application.
  • Glass ionomer cements are sensitive to humidity, so if possible, cover immediately with a strip or matrix or apply a protective varnish.

Finishing and Polishing:

  • Use flexible polishing discs for finishing and polishing the fillings, typically 7 minutes after application at the earliest.
  • After polishing, cover the fillings again with varnish. The best finishing results are achieved approximately 24 hours after inserting the filling.

Storage:

  • Ensure that the powder and liquid containers are tightly closed and stored at room temperature (15degrees C – 23degrees C), protected from light.
  • Do not use the product after the expiry date.
