    Waldent 10:1 Contra Angle Handpiece For Hand Files can be used with hand files Designed to aid the endodontic practitioner in efficiently and effectively performing root canal therapy. The watch-winding, oscillating movement of this endo handpiece keeps the hand file “floating” in the canal. The operator controls coronal and apical pressure.

    MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS:

    • After each treatment, sterilize the handpiece in an autoclave according to the following steps:
    • Remove the bur and brush the clean handpiece, clean the outside of the handpiece with an alcohol solution.
    • Lubricate the handpiece, each time drop two drops inside of air inlet pipe.
    • Place into the autoclaving pouch and mark.
    • Autoclave the handpiece for 12 min at 135ºC.

    Direction to Use

    Preparation:

    • Ensure that the handpiece is clean and sterilized before each use.

    Loading Hand Files:

    • Open the chuck using the push-button mechanism.
    • Insert the hand file into the chuck securely.
    • Close the chuck firmly to grip the hand file.

    Patient Preparation:

    • Prepare the patient for the endodontic procedure, ensuring a comfortable position.
    • Use appropriate isolation techniques to maintain a dry field during the procedure.

    Operational Setup:

    • Confirm that the gear ratio is set to 10:1 for the desired filing action.
    • Adjust the settings on the connected motor as needed.

    Canal Access:

    • Access the root canal using standard endodontic procedures.
    • Navigate the hand file gently into the canal under direct vision.

    Floating Movement:

    • Activate the handpiece to engage the watch-winding, oscillating movement.
    • This movement allows the hand file to “float” in the canal, facilitating controlled filing.

    Coronal and Apical Pressure:

    • Control the pressure applied both coronally and apically using the handpiece.
    • Adjust the pressure based on the specific requirements of the root canal therapy.

    Monitoring and Adjustments:

    • Continuously monitor the progress of the filing process.
    • Make adjustments to the handpiece settings or technique as necessary.

    Cleaning and Sterilization:

    • After completing the procedure, follow the maintenance instructions provided.
    • Remove the hand file, clean the handpiece, and sterilize it using autoclaving procedures.

    Post-Treatment Care:

    • Provide post-treatment care instructions to the patient.
    • Document the procedure and any relevant information in the patient’s records.
