      • FAQs

What is phosphoric acid etchant gel?

Etching Gel is a phosphoric acid etchant used for etching enamel and dentin to promote adhesion of primer/bonding agent adhesives to tooth structure and restorative materials.

Why is 37 phosphoric acid used for etching?

Use of 37% phosphoric acid for orthodontic bonding yields high bond strength but, causes enamel loss during both etching and debonding.

How much phosphoric acid is in etch?

Silverstone (1974) found that phosphoric acid concentrations of 30-40% with a 60- sec etch time produced the most retentive enamel surface topography. Most commonly used today is 37% phos- phoric acid with an application time of 60 sec, followed by copious rinsing with water for 15-60 sec.
